If you bought or will buy your glider and gear from NYC PARAGLIDING during or upon completing your P1 we will take $600 off the P2 certification package.
Spend the day outdoors immersed in paragliding life! This is a three- to four-hour introduction to paragliding. Students progress from a short classroom presentation to canopy (paraglider) familiarization and safety procedures. Kiting with the glider on flat ground is a technique for learning to control the glider in the air and create essential muscle memory for safe reactions. Later on in the day the student heads up to the mountain to observe the paraglider pilots takeoff and land, and learn how to read the sky like a pilot.

This Paragliding course is for our weekend warriors who want more flight experience. A second day of flight training is added to the introductory lesson. Depending on mastery of skills from Day 1 and weather conditions, gradual progress is made until launches result in flights from the grass training slope. You will learn to inflate the glider and bring your body into takeoff position for launch, short flight and land. You will spend more time on the mountain launch, observing paraglider pilots' takeoffs, landings and understanding the sky.

When you decide to get your paragliding pilot license, train with us in our P1 PARAGLIDING CERTIFICATION COURSE consisting of 6 full lessons (4 hours each). This course contains the classroom and flight training needed to acquire the skills for your beginner certification, or P1 (USPHA rating). Upon completion, students will have developed an understanding of how, when and where to fly paragliders as entry-level pilots. This lesson does not qualify the student to launch from mountains, but it is a necessary step in pursuing a pilot license (P2 USPHA Rating). The P1 rating proves that a new pilot has a basic understanding of paragliding and an ability to make safe flying decisions as he or she becomes more skilled, and therefore more autonomous, similar to a learner's permit from the DMV. Does not include required manuals or mandatory helmet. Paragliding gear available for P1 students.

After acquiring P1 rating, you will enroll in this course to continue your pilot training. The course culminates in your first solo mountain flight resulting in your P2 certification. With a P2 certification, pilots can fly from different sites under a USPHA- certified Observer, building skills and air time towards their P3. On average, this stage of training requires about 10-12 full training days with an instructor to complete. Achieving your P2 rating is like graduating from paragliding school. Includes your first year membership with unlimited flights in our local flight club at the Ellenville Flight Park. At this stage you need to purchase your own equipment, which is available through NYC Paragliding with discounts for our training students.
